WandaVision actress Teyonah Parris, who plays Monica Rambeau in WandaVision, has cleared up the confusion about WandaVision’s place in the MCU timeline. With the show taking place in what seems like a dream world or an alternate reality, many were wondering when exactly was taking place. Parris has now revealed that the show “picks up right after the events of [Avengers:] Endgame.”
Endgame concluded one of the longest-running story arcs of Marvel- the life of the original Avengers. It ended with Iron Man and Black Widow’s death and Captain America choosing to grow old with Peggy Carter and passing his shield on to Falcon.
In Infinity War, Thanos had killed Vision by ripping the Mind Stone out of his forehead. Later, with the Snap, Thanos had wiped out half the Earth’s population, including Wanda. She was brought back in Endgame, but Vision was not resurrected.
The fact that Vision is alive in WandaVision was the main point of confusion in fans’ minds. However, Parris’s answer confirms the show’s place in the greater MCU timeline. Although this gives rise to the question of whether WandaVision takes place before or after Spider-man: Far from Home, an approximate place for WandaVision has been established.
Parris also shared that her character’s backstory will be revealed soon in the show. Monica Rambeau was introduced in Captain Marvel as a child, and according to the comics, is the second Captain Marvel. If Marvel is setting up this storyline, then the last few years of Rambeau’s life will be important to her character development.
The next episode of WandaVision arrives this Friday on Disney+.
