With manga almost catching up with the popularity of anime around the globe, some franchises have decided to go digital to make the most out of the situation. Masafumi Nishida’s Tesla Note is the latest one to follow suit.
Many manga titles, despite their popularity, do not ever get officially licensed. This happens because of illegal fan translations, through which many otakus access these titles.
Due to the lack of official channels in the process, the popularity is never reflected back to the producers. A very simple solution to this is to go digital, and Kodansha has caught up to it.
The spy thriller manga, Tesla Note, will start serialization on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket App from 4th August 2021, switching from the Weekly Shonen Magazine.
The story revolves around “Mission T”, a shadow war among spies and the secret intelligence in order to prevent world destruction.
Botan Negoro, a ninja, teams up with Kuruma, a spy to retrieve the legacy of the great inventor Nikola Tesla, as they face off against spies from all around the world.
The series recently received an anime adaptation, which is set to debut later this year. The timing for the move could not be any better as the adaptation will surely bring in attention from all around the world.
Although the digital release might be in Japanese, any surge in overseas popularity will give rise to the chance of official English translation, bringing joy to the fans worldwide.
