Summary:
- Bandai Namco has revealed the massive file size of Tekken 8, which has surprised some of the fanbase.
- The vast 100GB file size is unsurprising, given that Call of Duty Modern Warfare III weighs 200 GB.
- The graphical and processing system requirements for Tekken 8 are moderate and not lofty.
With great power comes great responsibility, and with significant graphical improvements come massive file sizes for modern titles. With the substantial advancement in game technology, it’s not a surprise that game files are on a constant upward curve.
According to Bandai Namco’s official Tekken 8 website, the title will require as much as 100GB of storage to be playable. This applies to all platforms the title releases on, i.e., PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
This is hot on the heels of the recent AAA FPS title release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, which has a whopping file size of 200GB. This is a significant increase from the previous Modern Warfare II, which was also huge at 125GB.
The hefty file size could be attributed to the fact that the Story Mode of Tekken 8 will be more comprehensive and more extensive than Tekken 7. Bandai Namco has confirmed this.
The huge Story Mode results from more funds being allocated for the project, as confirmed by the Development Producer and Director Kohei Ikeda.
The system requirements, on the other hand, are not that high. It can run on any system housing a GeForce GTX 980. It should run decently well on a mid-range gaming build containing the GeForce 1650/1660Ti and a processor like the Ryzen 5 5000 series or the Intel i5 11th Gen or i7 11th Gen.
This means that graphical processing is not as big of a deal as with titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake II. However, the storage requirements might mean deleting some older games before moving on to Tekken 8.
