Ted Lasso Season 3 Episode 8: Release Date, Recap, and Speculation

In “The Strings that Bind Us,” we finally learn why Sam named his restaurant Ola, and it’s just enough to get an “Awwww!” out of you. His brush with the bigoted politician was actually inspired by a real-life event which makes the ending scene that much sweeter.

Nate & Jade hit it off, but Keeley & Jack are what drive the most attention in this episode. The over-the-top gestures might be romantic, but is Keeley looking at all of it with rose-tinted glasses, causing her to avoid the red flags in Jack? Rebecca certainly thinks so.

And what about Lasso’s new Total Football strategy? Will it be the saving grace that AFC Richmond needs to make it to the final game in this league and emerge victorious?

1. Episode 8 Synopsis/Speculation

While watching Henry, Ted fights the urge to spiral when Michelle and Dr. Jacob go on a romantic trip. An online leak has massive implications for Keeley.

Ted’s Total Football scheme might not have earned them a win against Arsenal F.C., but it might be the change that AFC Richmond needed to return to their old glory. Will it be in time to earn that win Rebecca has wanted against Rupert since season 1?

Keeley and Jack’s relationship is relatively new, and Rebecca’s love-bombing theory might have more truth to it than we can perceive at this stage. Not only does her behavior match Rupert’s at the beginning of their relationship, but some of her comments about her connection with Keeley have been like a red flag.

Nate & Jade’s date might bring out the Nate we’ve come to care for, and we can finally say goodbye to vengeful Nate. But will that be successful while Rupert still fuels his anger for Lasso and Richmond?

Next week, we will see more problems for our titular character. His ex-wife and ex-couples’ therapist are taking a trip to Paris and it’s going to send him spiraling while Henry shares all the details about his possible new father. What will happen in the next episode of Ted Lasso?

Ted Lasso Season 3 Episode 8: Release Date, Recap, and Speculation
Ted Lasso, Coach Beard & Roy

Jack showers Keeley with grand-gestures and expensive gifts and even reveals their secret relationship at the office. While Keeley certainly enjoys her new lover, Rebecca is concerned about her since this is the exact behavior her ex-husband displayed in their honeymoon period.

Rebecca’s warning makes Keeley stop and think, and she asks Jack to dial it down. Meanwhile, Sam is preparing for his father’s visit to the UK and getting a table at his restaurant for the special event. But another matter bothers him, distracting him from the task.

Ted has sprouted a new “Total Football” strategy for AFC Richmond, and while Roy and Beard are hesitant to change their tune in the middle of the series, they oblige. The team struggled to adjust to the new strategy, and their match against Arsenal went poorly in the first half.

But after Jamie changes his tune to make a sacrificial play for the other team members, they turn the tide in the second half – they didn’t win the match but find their stride in the new four-step plan.

Nate’s obvious crush on Jade finally takes an interesting turn after he asks her out. She agrees to the date even though a car has crushed his cute diorama/grand gesture.

Sam’s Twitter feud with the bigoted politician regarding her anti-refugee stance ended with his restaurant trashed right before his father’s visit. But Mr. Obisanya only advises his son not to fight back but fight forward. The Richmond team comes to clean up the mess, and we learn Sam named his place after his father, who he cooks a meal with during the final scene.
