Family trauma really does have lasting effects on a child. In Ted’s case, his father’s suicide and his mother’s emotional shutdown made him the people-pleasing anxiety-ridden mess he is today. Jamie’s rage for his abusive father is the root of his troubles, but after he lets it go, he proves to himself that the anger doesn’t make him the talented player he is.
Coach Beard also buries the hatchet with Nate and gives him a chance to return to AFC Richmond when they are just one match away from the Premier League title. Ted’s commitment to Henry may result in him leaving the team, so what will he decide in the season 3 finale?
1. Episode 12 Synopsis/Speculation
Next week’s episode of Ted Lasso may not only be the last episode of season 3 but might also be the series finale. Jason Sudeikis has maintained that they’re writing season 3 like it’s the last, and with how cleanly plots are being wrapped up one by one, it does seem like the end of the Apple TV+ show.
Since there is no confirmation for the show ending with the current season or a season 4 renewal, I’ll treat the season 3 finale as just that – the end of a season.
Ted’s desire to spend more time with his son and his interrupted urgent talk with Rebecca seems to point towards an end. There’s no “Ted Lasso” without Ted Lasso!
But Roy has been coming to his own as a coach, and were Ted to leave, we know AFC Richmond will be in good hands. We don’t know where his and Keeley’s relationship currently stands, but at least we know that.
Another coach may be joining the team. With Beard’s blessing and the whole team wanting him back, Nathan can complete his redemption arc by returning to AFC Richmond and taking them to the final victory. In your face, Rupert!
Speaking of that cheating SOB, his less-than-inconspicuous affair may be hitting the light soon, which will coincide with shit hitting the fan – for him, that is. Bex and Kakes meeting up with Rebecca this close to the season finale can’t be a coincidence – the world is about to know the true character of Mr. Mannion.
Oh, I can’t wait! When is the next episode of Ted Lasso hitting Apple TV+?

5. Episode 11 Recap
Ted’s mother, Dotty, visits him in England, and while she hits it off with everyone else, Lasso seems clearly on edge with her around. Meanwhile, Isaac, Collin, and William visit Taste of Athens, where Nate’s working after leaving West Ham.
They have come to ask Nate back to AFC Richmond. Nate declines, but keeping in mind what he actually wants, Jade threatenes her boss to fire him, or else she’ll report his drug problem to the law. Roy & Ted are on board to have Nate on the team, but Beard doesn’t want the “Judas” to return.
Jamie’s concerning mood befuddles Roy, who asks Keeley’s help in the matter. When both of them don’t know what to do, they visit Jamie’s mother, to whom he confesses his feelings. Meanwhile, Roy and Keeley have a sweet moment, and the former tells her that he wants them to be more than friends.
In the match against Manchester City, Jamie’s home team, the crowd boos him, and his anger causes him to fumble his plays. Ted advises him to let go of his anger towards his abusive father and move on – and Jamie shines in the game, earning his team a win. Somewhere else, Jamie’s father cheers for him.
Ted asks Dotty why she’s here – she only replies that Henry misses his father. Lasso thanks her but then confronts her for her behavior after Ted’s father killed himself. The two bond over their shared fears of parenthood, and Ted admits he wants to give more time to Henry despite his insecurities.
Beard visits Nate and tells him about how Ted gave him a second chance he needed, and he is willing to forgive Nate and offer him the same for his friend’s sake. Rupert’s current wife and secretary visit Rebecca.
Rebecca thinks of confiding in Lasso about her late-night meeting with the two ladies, but Lasso has more urgent news. He might be getting ready to leave AFC Richmond, but the episode ends before he can reveal what he wants to discuss.
