Just like its name, the upcoming anime series “Takt Op. Destiny” by MAPPA and Madhouse had been an enigma, but now all the notes have started to align in symphony.
An original mixed-media project, ‘Takt op.,’ takes place in a world ravaged by monsters known as ‘D2’, who are attracted to music. Due to which music has become taboo, but soon hope arrives with the musical magic girls headed by the talented ‘Conductor.’ We follow the two main protagonists to win back the world from the monsters.
The official website for the “Takt Op. Destiny” anime series just unveiled the second trailer featuring the opening song “takt” by Ryo from Supercell featuring vocals from Mafumafu and gaku and ending theme “Symphonia” by Mika Nakashima.
The trailer starts with the magic girl named ‘Destiny’ as she fights off a D2 monster while Beethoven plays in the background. We soon get a glimpse of the Conductor with an amputated arm, but just as he raises his wand, the video cuts to black as the theme song “takt” starts to play.
Though the anime takes place in America, it doesn’t quite feel like the modern times but instead has an Americana vibe of the 1970s with muscle cars and old-style restaurants. It will be pretty interesting to see how the animation studio brings the classic feel of old Hollywood films to this anime.
As for the premiere, “Takt Op. Destiny” anime will air on October 6, 2021, through TV Tokyo and its affiliates. The official site has also released a synopsis for the anime’s first episode titled “Conductor-Creed” alongside some pictures.

The synopsis reads:
Four years have been since the Zagan declaration announced the ceasefire with D2. ‘MUSIC’ was still regarded as taboo in the world, and the melody remained interrupted. In a devastated America, a boy who grew up without knowing music hears the melody of the piano one day. It is a young man with dark hair – “Tact” that plays. Then, in a way that draws you to his tone, a monster D2 with a different shape and a girl with a sword in her hand, Destiny, appears.
“Takt Op. Destiny” seems to have much potential, and it will be wonderful to see how MAPPA and Madhouse can incorporate their talent to produce something truly breathtaking.
