Takarai’s ‘Ten Count’ BL Anime Canceled Due to Production Issues

It’s almost like a curse has struck the BL world. After the BL movie sequel Grizzly was canceled, it is now the turn of ‘Ten Count Boys.’

The official website for the anime of Rihito Takarai’s ‘Ten Count’ boys-love announced that the anime had been canceled due to issues relating to its production. 

The anime was initially scheduled to premiere on television in 2020. However, it was postponed as the staff reconsidered the series’ development form. 

In October 2022, the staff announced it as a theatrical anime that would open in 2023, but the anime did not debut last year. Now they have canceled the anime.

It is an infrequent situation for an anime to get canceled due to production reasons, and it is not a good look for the studio.

Fans are curious to see if the anime will be picked up by other studios. However, it seems highly unlikely in this situation.

‘Ten Count’ is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Rihito Takarai, serialized in the manga magazine Dear+ from 2013 to 2017. Two video game adaptations of the series have been produced.

Tadaomi Shirotani suffers from obsessive–compulsive disorder that manifests as severe mysophobia. He meets psychotherapist Riku Kurose and how he falls for him forms the crux of the story.
