Sword Art Online’s Aria of the Starless Night movie will touch upon the first arc of the Progressive light novels of the franchise.
I consider this a positive step for the series as Aria will not be introducing a new plot point or foes altogether, but rather it will give you a better look at how everything started.
Kirito and Asuna will be getting more attention as they deserve, and I don’t find myself unhappy with this setup.
Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night will be screened in Japanese theatres on October 30, 2021.
Fans from the U.S. don’t have to worry about missing out on this film. The anime’s official Twitter account has assured fans that more information regarding its U.S. release will be revealed soon.
Meanwhile, you can sit back and enjoy the brand-new trailer of the upcoming movie.
The trailer gives us beneficial insight into how Asuna had entered the game. When she had first joined the SAO world, she was not the fearless fighter we know.
Surprisingly, she was introduced to the game by her friend, Mito, who also helps her survive when she is stuck inside.
Now the question that arises is, why is Mito not present in the present timeline? Did she part ways with Asuna, or did something happen to her?
Inori Minase will be voicing Mito. The trailer also previews the theme song of the movie, “Yuke.” The song is performed and co-written by none other than our Gurenge queen, LiSA.
A previous trailer of the movie also highlighted Asuna’s first experience with SAO. It looks like we will get to know a lot of background information about Kirito and Asuna soon.
Add in the mysterious friend of Asuna, and you have a complete emotional package for all SAO fans.
About Sword Art Online
Sword Art Online is a Japanese light novel series written by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by Abec.
The series occurs in the near future and focuses on the protagonist “Kirito” Kirigaya Kazuto and Asuna Yuuki as they play through various virtual reality MMORPG worlds.
At the launch of the game, 10,000 people had connected themselves to the virtual reality of Sword Art Online. The plot takes a twist when people realize that they can’t quit the game.
Protagonist Kirito, a pro gamer and was present for the beta launch of SAO, starts planning to clear levels as soon as possible. Throughout his quest to finish the game, he meets many friends and also a love interest, Asuna.
The plot and the whole premise of the show are remarkably unique and quite believable in some futuristic sense.
