Sword Art Online’s Ex-Chronicle event is back for its latest iteration. Although this is not an in-person like the previous ones, it might be the most immersive one yet.
Usually, the event is an exhibition-type event where fans get to see various aspects of Sword Art Online. From exclusive behind the scenes to all the character designs, life-sized props from the franchise to exclusive figurines for sale, fans get to see and experience it all.
The Sword Art Online-Ex Chronicle-Online Edition event will be held in winter 2021. The event will commemorate the series’ 10th anniversary.

Due to obvious reasons, this will be an online event that will push the fans into an immersive virtual space where they will be able to see the exhibition as is. The previous two editions of the event also featured a whole dark LED-lit room to deliver a similar experience.
The details regarding the price for the event and date aren’t put yet. Considering the release of the new SAO Progressive movie this fall, there might be an announcement for the next one.
There’s also an active online campaign till September 5th, 2021 where you can win an autograph from Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Kirito’s VA), and Haruka Tomatsu (Asuna’s VA) by retweeting a tweet from the event’s official Twitter.
The event being online might have its drawbacks but it may give it an edge over the previous two. Asuna and Kirito as your guides through the event or maybe some easter eggs in the background, the possibilities are endless. Just be sure not to get trapped.
This seems to be too meta considering what the series is about. There’s no doubt though that the fans are going to love it.
Damn! No streaming services found :/
About Sword Art Online
Sword Art Online is a Japanese light novel series written by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by Abec.
The series occurs in the near future and focuses on the protagonist “Kirito” Kirigaya Kazuto and Asuna Yuuki as they play through various virtual reality MMORPG worlds.
At the launch of the game, 10,000 people had connected themselves to the virtual reality of Sword Art Online. The plot takes a twist when people realize that they can’t quit the game.
Protagonist Kirito, a pro gamer and was present for the beta launch of SAO, starts planning to clear levels as soon as possible. Throughout his quest to finish the game, he meets many friends and also a love interest, Asuna.
The plot and the whole premise of the show are remarkably unique and quite believable in some futuristic sense.
