We begin the third season of the anime Sword Art Online III. Season 3 will continue the story from where it ended in season 2 of the Alicization – War of Underworld arc; after Kirito has successfully defeated Subtilizer and everyone has logged out of the Underworld. Kirito and Asuna, stay back!

1. Episode 21 Release Date
Episode 21 of the Sword Art Online Season 3 anime, titled “Beyond Time”, has been released on Saturday, Sep 05, 2020 at 8:00 am PDT.
In the next episode, Kirito and Asuna have to spend 200 years in the Underworld!
I. Is SAO on a Break This Week?
No, episode 21 of the Sword Art Online III Season 3 anime will be released as per its schedule; thus, no such delay is announced.
The anime comes out weekly every Saturday.
2. Episode 21 Preview & Speculation
The preview for the next Episode 21, titled “Beyond Time,” was not shown at the end of episode 20.
But after defeating all the enemies and with the other players logging out, only Kirito and Asuna remain in the Underworld!
The next episode will show Kirito and Asuna’s time together, where they might build a house for themselves and enjoy tea as they did in the first season of SAO.
Meanwhile, Higa and Kirito’s friends will do everything to log Kirito and Asuna out of the game externally, at the Ocean turtle.
Still, no matter how fast they log them out, Kirito and Asuna will have to spend 200 years in Underworld time.
The previous episode has met with a surge of positive response from the audience raving about Kirito’s battle against Subtilizer and the fantastic visuals and SFX.
But what had the viewers in tears and happiness was the moment when Kirito felt lonely about being away from his friends and then realizing Asuna never left!
They have commented that Asuna would never leave Kirito behind, and their love is filled with pure beauty.
3. Recap of Episode 20
I. Kirito vs. Subtilizer
Episode 20, titled “The Night-Sky Blade,” begins with Alice welcoming back Kirito! Asuna takes Alice to the World’s End Alter, and Kirito faces Subtilizer!
As soon as Kirito starts speaking to Subtilizer, he gets manipulated by dark magic. As Kirito was close to losing himself, Eugeo’s voice saves him again!
Kirito takes out both his swords and attacks, but none of his strike damages Subtilizer as the dark aura surrounding Subtilizer heals all the wounds. Subtilizer steals the wings from his dragon and launches multiple attacks towards Kirito.
Kirito defends himself, and they engage in an enthralling sword fight!
II. The Strength of Love
Kirito loses the lower half of his body, and Subtilizer transforms into his ultimate beast form. Intimidated upon this sight, Kirito realizes the flaw in his attitude while starting the battle with Subtilizer.
Eugeo appears in front of Kirito again and makes him understand that Kirito’s wish to stay in Underworld was because Kirito loved the people he met there.
Still, Subtilizer was different; Subtilizer feared not understanding others and sought destruction!
Subtilizer stabs Kirito and tries to devour his soul and memories, but Kirito tells him that his body was just a vessel and uses Release Recollection to freeze Subtilizer and turn the Underworld’s red sky into a beautiful night filled with stars.
Shinon, Leafa, and everyone else realizes that the night sky was Kirito’s heart and send their strength to his sword because their souls were connected.
III. Kirito and Asuna
The stars assimilate and together get absorbed into Kirito’s sword giving him strength! Subtilizer breaks the ice barrier only to find Kirito healed and collecting the sacred resources.
They once more fight with each other, but this time Kirito overpowers Subtilizer! He uses Starburst Stream to send Subtilizer to the ground, but Subtilizer decapitates Kirito’s arm while launching another attack!
Eugeo takes the Rose sword and stops Subtilizer’s attack and gives Kirito an opening to finish him off! Everyone gets logged out after Kirito defeats Subtilizer.
Kirito says goodbye to Eugeo and heads to the World’s End Alter and sheds tears for not being able to log out but meets Asuna, who stayed back with him!

Sword Art Online is a Japanese light novel series written by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by Abec. The series occurs in the near future and focuses on the protagonist “Kirito” Kirigaya Kazuto and Asuna Yuuki as they play through various virtual reality MMORPG worlds.
Sword Art Online aired in Japan between July and December 2012, followed by its second and third season and a movie, titled Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale. Sword Art Online III Season 3 is the second part of Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld.
