Yeah, I should stop. Let’s talk about ‘Sweet Tooth’ instead. The show has a total of eight episodes that hit Netflix on June 4, 2021. It is based comic book of the same name by Jeff Lemire. So now let’s get into what we are here for—a review of Netflix’s Sweet Tooth.

If it weren’t for the fast pacing of the show, I think I have ended up not liking the show all that much. Even the cute baby Gus couldn’t save it for me. Thank God for Gus. No, Karen, I will not stop gushing over Gus. Sue me.
The show feels great for a weekend binge-watch session. The show is based ten years after a viral outbreak called “The Sick.” But then a scientific/biological miracle happens when half-human, half-animal baby ‘hybrids’ (who are totally cute) started to be born. So there’s a high chance you might end up liking the show. But it would be best if you watched it yourself to decide.
2. Is It Worth watching?
If you are looking for a mindless binge-watch where you don’t really need to think much about what the hell is going on, Sweet Tooth is for you. And to answer if ‘Sweet Tooth’ is worth watching, it might end up giving you diabetes. I mean Gus—
Yes, it is definitely worth watching. I mean, it is a show that even children could watch, so I would totally understand if you do not like it. But no harm in trying, is there?
3. Plot
Sweet Tooth is set 10 years after the Sick, a viral outbreak, which leads to a dystopian world that mostly blamed the hybrid babies for the doom. The story follows an adorable deer-baby boy Gus who was left alone in the world suddenly due to a tragedy (poor baby) and got rescued by Jep.
Simultaneously, Dr. Aditya Singh’s story goes on where he’s one of the first few guys to notice the symptoms of the Sick. But, unfortunately, and sadly, his wife also started showing such symptoms, which leads to them escaping so that the government wouldn’t take her away.
There’s that. That’s the premise of the show (and Jep and Gus are just so adorable).

Sweet Tooth has a cast that is just made for the characters.
- Christian Convery plays the adorable baby boy Gus.
- Will Forte plays the paranoid Pubba.
- Nonso Anozie plays Tommy Jepperd or Jep.
- Adeel Akhtar did a fantastic job as Dr. Aditya Singh
- Aliza Vellani plays Aditya’s wife, Rani Singh.
- Stefania LaVie Owen plays the adorable baby Bear
- James Brolin is the narrator throughout the story.
4. Final Thoughts

Sweet Tooth is a pretty decent adaptation of the Jeff Lemire comic. The show is pretty wholesome, and with decent acting and direction, I would recommend it to 6 out of 10 people. You should give it a try!
