One of the suspects gets caught during the physical encounter but it turns out he was only temporarily hired by the thieves to hack the security system at the warehouse. The stolen items included paintings of blueprints by a renowned L.A architect. The squad investigates all the buildings designed by this architect, which leads to them finding the stolen items and catching the culprits.

Luca is suspicious of Sanchez’s real intentions behind being their new team leader. Towards the end of the episode it is revealed that he was hired specifically by the higher ups in the force to make sure Hondo quits the LAPD. They’re upset about the fact that Hondo is back and want him gone.
