Supposedly Genuine Windows 11 Screenshots Leaked Online

According to a report by The Verge, videos and screenshots of the yet unannounced Windows 11 have leaked online. The content first appeared on the Chinese website Baidu, and since then, the entire Windows 11 OS has surfaced online with a new user interface, Start menu, and a very MacOS aesthetic.

Windows 11 bears a striking similarity to the canceled Windows 10X UI if the screenshots are genuine. At the moment, there is no comment from Microsoft on the leak.

In most cases, “leaked” screenshots of an unreleased OS usually turn out to be fake, especially if they resemble a developer’s canceled project. But there are some signs in these Windows 11 screenshots that are bound to sow some doubt in mind.

For instance, the listed install date on one of the screenshots is in the future, and the settings window doesn’t match the softer design aesthetic evident in the screenshot of the new Start menu.

But, as Tom Warren from The Verge has pointed out, these do seem to be the real deal. Warren claims that the UI and Taskbar will indeed look like this when the new iteration of Windows arrives. And, it will indeed be called Windows 11.

Coming to the look of Windows 11, the Start menu is a simplified and cleaner version of what currently exists in Windows 10, without  the Live Tiles.

It includes pinned apps, recent files, and the ability to quick shut down or restart Windows 11 devices. So, it seems Windows 11 is going to be a great bet for all those who wanted a more simplified version of Windows 10 in their lives.

If you don’t want the app icons and Start menu centered, Windows 11 gives you the option to move them all back to the left. The OS also brings a Dark Mode to the table, doubling down on refining Windows 11.

Widgets also seem to be available in the screenshots of the new OS. This could corroborate the rumors that suggest Microsoft is bringing back Windows Widgets.

These screenshots might just be a look at a work-in-progress Windows 11, but nonetheless, the changes are quite pleasing. And with Windows 10 getting official support till 2025, it seems Windows users are going to be in good hands for a while.

What’s more, the new OS might get an official reveal at Microsoft’s event on June 24. You can set a reminder to attend the live stream of the event here.
