Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch are reprising their roles as Superman and Lois Lane, after playing the same in five Arrowverse series. They have appeared in all previous Arrowverse shows besides Black Lightning, namely: Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and Batwoman.
After being announced in October 2019, and ordered to series in January 2020, the show began filming in October 2020. Like most network shows, it has already started airing despite the fact that another few months of filming remain to be finished.
The pilot of the show was a 90-minute extravaganza that aired on The CW on February 23. It has received a warm welcome from thrilled fans, who have tweeted about how the show feels “hopeful”, “wholesome”, and “respectful of the legacy of Superman”.
So where can you watch this hotly anticipated new DC show? Is it available to stream on any online platforms? Read on to find out.
1. Is Superman & Lois Coming to Netflix?
Superman & Lois is currently available for next-day streaming on The CW app and website. There is a possibility that it may come to Netflix eight days after the season finale airs, as has been the case for other CW shows in the past, but we don’t know yet.
Chances are higher that the show might go on HBO Max after the season ends on The CW, as has recently happened with other CW shows. (PS: HBO Max is also all set to stream Zack Snyder’s Justice League next month!)
However, Netflix does have other Arrowverse shows for you to sink your teeth into. There’s Arrow, with whom the Arrowverse got started. There’s also Black Lightning, which is about a retired superhero of the same name trying to save his family.
2. Where Can I Catch Superman & Lois Live?
Superman & Lois airs at 8 pm ET on The CW every Tuesday. There will be 15 episodes in the first season.
You can also watch the live airing if you have a subscription to Hulu+ Live TV, AT&T TV NOW, or YouTube TV. All these services include The CW in their TV channel bundles.
3. Where Can I Watch Superman & Lois for Free?
Superman & Lois episodes will be available to stream for free on The CW App as well as The CW’s website the morning after they air on TV.
There is a catch, though—get ready for a ton of ads if you choose any of these free options! I’m talking five back-to-back ads every 25 minutes (which definitely adds up, particularly when you’re watching the pilot, which is over an hour long). So, if you can access any of the options I previously mentioned, I’d highly recommend using those instead.
4. What is Superman & Lois About?
Superman & Lois features the two eponymous characters tackling a whole new challenge—parenthood. That’s right, Superman and Lois now have twin teenage sons! The premise of the show centers around the couple returning to Smallville with their boys after a mysterious tragedy takes place.
Another exciting new development in the show is that we get to see Superman in an all-new super suit.
5. Who Else Can I Expect to See in the Show?
Jordan Elsass and Alexander Garfin play Superman and Lois’s teenaged sons, Jonathan and Jordan.
Morgan Edge, an intelligent, eloquent, and impassioned self-made mogul who owns The Daily Planet, has been recast and is played by Adam Rayner.
Dylan Walsh plays Samuel Lane, Lois’s army general father who regularly calls upon Superman for his help.
The main antagonist, The Stranger, is portrayed by Wolé Parks. He is shown to be a “mysterious visitor hellbent on proving to the world that it no longer needs Superman”.
With many other characters like Lana Lang-Cushing, Kyle Cushing, Sarah Cushing, Ron Troupe, Chrissy Beppo, Leslie Larr, and Subjekt-11, we can definitely expect some exciting new action in the latest DC show.
