In a recent announcement on Twitter, Supergiant Games reported that its upcoming game Hades will not feature cross-save between PC and Switch on launch due to some setbacks during tests.
The feature will be added through an update later on.
In one of my previous articles, I stated how Roguelike is a particularly interesting video game genre.
With randomly generated levels and a perma-death feature being the defining elements of such games, it provides players with a sense of accomplishment and growth like no other.
Though I still stand by my claim that Spelunky and Dead Cells are perhaps the only contenders for the best in the genre, there’s a new title on the horizon that I’ve been paying attention to for a while now.
The game in question, as you may have already guessed, is Supergiant’s upcoming game Hades.
Repeating what Supergiant has described their game as – Hades is a god-like rogue-like dungeon crawler that boasts the best of their previous games such as Bastion and Transistor.
But, while the game is releasing pretty soon, a minor setback seems to have occurred, which may cause a problem for cross-platform fans of the game.
What is the Problem?
According to Supergiant’s recent tweet, the game won’t be featuring cross-save service on the launch, meaning that players who wish to migrate their save data to, say, Nintendo Switch, won’t be able to do so until an update that implements the service arrives.
“Rather than postpone our v1.0 launch plans until the feature is complete, we’re going to introduce cross-saves in an update later this year, after Hades v1.0 launches this fall.”

Of course, this setback won’t harm the launch of the game in any way, considering how the number of people that’ll want to migrate their saves from PC to Switch is pretty low, but it’s worth pointing out that these people will have to wait a bit longer to synchronize their play-data on both the platforms.
However, it’ll all certainly be worth the wait, because the game is just that good!
I, too, have played this title during the early access. Let me tell you, hacking and slashing our way through randomly-generated dungeons, making mistakes, learning from them, and trying again and again until we succeed has never felt this good.
I’m not a particularly huge fan of Dungeon Crawler games, Diablo 3 being the last one that I must’ve properly played, but there’s certainly something special about Hades, for I kept playing the game way more than I initially thought I would.
Maybe it’s because of the game’s dense atmosphere, or perhaps the phenomenal soundtrack, who knows?
All I know for a fact is that Hades is a game that’s certainly worth checking out. Now that the game is nearing its release, it is the best time to buy it and be entranced by the experience.
