Summertime Rendering Ep 6: Release Date, Speculation, Watch Online

If uncanny valley had a definitive meaning, then the fifth episode of Summertime Rendering would be it.

From one massive revelation to “what the hell am I even watching?”, the episode took us through the seven circles of hell and Shinpei through the 5 stages of grief within a span of mere 20 minutes.

We now have a face to the mysterious ‘Mother” mentioned in the previous episode but that might be the least of Shinpei’s worries since he now has a deadline. Three days is all he gets to fix this quagmire he’s found himself in.

More lives are at stake than he can even imagine and the clock is ticking.

Episode 6 Speculations

Episode 5 bombarded us with such a flurry of pure unadulterated chaos that making any “educated” assumptions is borderline impossible but it looks like there is a pattern that seems to be developing.

When all was lost, Shinpei turned to the power that allowed him to return after death only to realize that the power has a major drawback. The only positive thing from his previous” run” was that now he has a specific deadline to work with.

In the next episode, we might see Shinji try and track down the lady in black, Nagumo Ryuunosuke since she is the only one who seems to know anything about the situation apart from the doctor and the hunter.

We might also see the doctor get some more screen time as his cameo-like appearance in the previous episode was enough to pique a lot of people’s interests.

Episode 6 Release Date

Episode 6 of the Summertime Rendering anime has been released on Thursday, May 19, 2022. The episode title or preview has not been shown.

Episode 5 Recap

The episode begins with the lady in black absolutely crushing Mio’s shadow who had recovered after getting her head blown off but was dispatched by a shotgun blast to her (surprise), shadow.

The lady then proceeds to make Shinpei a makeshift sling and introduces herself as Nagumo Ryuunosuke, Mio’s favorite writer. Odd coincidence but it gets weirder. The two suddenly go into hiding as Nagumo senses a shadow approaching.

There, Shin gets to know how to differentiate between shadows and humans via a theory that Nagumo’s sister had developed. She then goes on to tell him that those shadows are entities that thrive off of human data of all things.

All this exposition set off alarm bells in Shin’s head who asks Nagumo to help him save his family and friends and rushes to the top of the shrine only to see Toki get stabbed and killed by some faceless shadow man-creature with four arms and an aura that screams bad news.

The scene around doesn’t look any good either with pools of blood everywhere, a mountain of corpses behind the shadow monster, and the real Sou with an ax jutting out of his skull held by Sou’s shadow.

Nagumo fires her shotgun at Shadow Sou to somehow protect Mio, drawing attention to herself and Shinpei, but the monster fabricates a female holding a shotgun, firing the same thing at her which she barely manages to dodge but successfully captures Shin.

Turns out, Shin’s right eye which allows him to return upon death is the same one that this “mother” lost a long time ago. It holds the power to control time but Shin can’t really control it like that, yet.

The monster begins offering all the shadows as well as all the bodies as offerings to the revival of the “mother” while Shin and Mio begin crawling towards each other. Dramatically so, Mio completely disappears right inches before Shin could reach her.

A shadow with blue particle effects begins to spread across the island making any human that touches it, disappear. 

The sacrifices had been made and Mother had finally revealed herself as, quite possibly a 5000-year-old loli because you never question anime logic.

Upon losing everything before him, Shin regains his composure and has Nagumo kill him so that he can return, a request she happily obliges and blows his head off as well.

Shin comes back to a time much later than where he did the last this happened. This makes him start thinking about possible limits to the power.

He now has a deadline to work with but it is evident that the enemy is also quite aware of his power. What the two sides do with that information, only the next episode will tell.

About Summer Time Rendering

Summer Time Rendering is a manga by Yasuki Tanaka. It started serialization in the Shonen Jump+ magazine in October 2017. The manga ended on 1st February 2021 with an anime announcement.

The manga is a mystery story set in the Wakayama prefecture, a remote island with a small population. Shinpei had to return to the island to attend the funeral of his childhood friend and family member.

Although the funeral seemed to be progressing without any disturbance, Shinpei was suddenly caught in a dreadful situation.
