The Suicide Squad Cast Don’t Know How The Movie Ends!

Nothing is as impactful as a movie ending well done. Some actors even choose their scripts based on this. But it seems for the cast of The Suicide Squad, how the movie ends is not a question they can answer. Director James Gunn reveals in tweets about how most of the cast only received scripts up until their character’s death.

Gunn’s response is originally to a fan questioning if alternative scripts were given to the team in order to stop leakers. Gunn obviously found a better solution – don’t give the cast the entire script at all!

He did however admit to changing Idris Alba’s character name to Vigilante in the scripts (and also on the back of Alba’s chair!)

Beyond their own character’s demise, some of the cast members only recently watched the movie’s ending, while others are yet to join the party.

The Suicide Squad’s intentions are a little on the nose – after all, with a squad name like that, you cannot not expect the death of a few characters. This is also aided by the intentional refurnishing of the Suicide Squad, that brings in comic book characters whose deaths won’t hurt the rest of the franchise.

2016’s Suicide Squad not only faced issues with bringing in iconic characters (who could not be killed, lest another film around them was decided) and unsettling the DCEU’s larger arch, its notes of a PG-13 guideline did not allow it to sing of the mayhem and murder associated with the flagrant squad.

THE SUICIDE SQUAD – Official Trailer

The agenda for the 2021’s Suicide Squad is simple – the former imprisoned convicts are now members of Task Force X sent to destroy all traces of Jotenheim, a Nazi-era poison. This should be no problem for them, after all, they are dying to save the world.

So while the deaths of a few (or many?) in the Suicide Squad is very well expected, the movie is definitely building anticipation on what is in store for the happily ever after.

Big blockbusters are known to keep these details a secret – after all, counterpart Marvel is also notorious for fiercely and cunningly guarding its scripts and climaxes. There have been accounts of franchises distributing different scripts or even going to the extent of filming different scenes!

But The Suicide Squad’s big reveal also points to a possibility of it impacting other DCEU movies. Dare we say the villains who do survive may crossover and reappear to torment more poor souls and heroes in upcoming movies?

Sure have to watch The Suicide Squad come August 6 to find out!
