It’s the law that a shonen protagonist’s parents are never ordinary people. The same rule applies to Jujutsu Kaisen, where the protagonist Yuji’s parents have always been shrouded in mystery, but not anymore.
We’ve only ever got one sneak peek at Yuji’s biological parents that confirmed that they’re not normal people. Simultaneously, it gave rise to a wave of theories, some of which have started to make sense now.
One of the most popular theories states that Yuji’s mom is Kenjaku explaining his ability to hold Sukuna and extraordinary physical abilities. With the latest chapter out, things have started coming together.
Jujutsu Kaisen manga’s chapter 160 teased at Suguru Geto or Kenjaku being Itadori Yuji’s father. It is not yet confirmed, but there is a good possibility that it’s true.
In chapter 158, a connection between Kenjaku and Sukuna was hinted at, giving rise to the possibility that Yuji was born to be Sukuna’s vessel. That single factor changed everything we knew to be true about the plot and its circumstances.
The Culling Game is about to begin, so before that, Geto visited everyone living in the colonies made for the game to give them a chance to quit. One of them happened to be Setsuko Sasaki, Yuji’s senior from his previous school.
Sasaki, Yuji, and another student named Iguchi were members of the occult club at their school. The night Sasaki and Iguchi undid the curse on Sukuna’s finger that was placed in their school triggered the story’s events.
When Geto came to warn Sasaki about the Culling Game and gave her a choice, she chose to leave instead of participating. While Geto was escorting Sasaki out of the Cursed Realm, he thanked her for getting along with his son.
We’ve all had our curiosities about Yuji’s mom ever since she was introduced in chapter 143. The unusual stitch marks on her forehead were eerily similar to the ones on Geto and Noritoshi Kamo’s forehead.
The fact that both of these sorcerers were possessed by Kenjaku makes the theory of Kenjaku being Itadori’s biological parent even more rigid.
We have solid proof and many factors pointing towards the possibility of Yuji and Kenjaku being related, but it’s not yet revealed directly. But there is a good chance that the truth will be out soon.
Right now, all we can do is pray for our protagonists that they make it out alive of the Culling Game soon. Though it’s doubtful that Gege sensei will let us off that easily, so better keep your tissues ready.
