After the shocking season 3 finale, Succession is finally back with season 4, where Logan and his children are now in an all-out war for PGM instead of Waystar RoyCo. Pierce Global Media is the number one rival of Royco in the market and gaining that company will decide who wins the civil war of Succession.
We have known Nan Pierce since the show first introduced her in season 2 as the CEO of PGM. Logan has locked his children out from RoyCo with Tom’s warning, and if he succeeds in securing the second most important company, he will be impossible to defeat.
But Kendall, Roman, and Shiv outbid Logan with a steep $10 billion, which is no big feat considering their unstable financial situation after losing out on Waystar. But in this war between the hated patriarch and the unified children, I have a feeling we’ll have another winner, and it won’t be someone from the Roy family.
Nan Pierce is the only thing standing between the Roy family from owning PGM. Granted, the quest for the acquisition has been going on for a long time, but the final season will end with Pierce handing over the keys to her company to someone. But till the company is still in her hands, she holds all the power.
She has already sealed an offer of $10 billion from the Roy siblings, and she can wager that position to get an even bigger offer from Logan, standing to earn well over the company’s actual value.
If Pierce plays her cards right, she can fan the fires between the Roy family and watch from afar as they burn each other out. Is that what the writers have planned for season 4? Will the Roy family lose everything after their greed forces them to bet everything on the line, and Pierce walks away with all the spoils of the war?
Even if that’s not Nan’s endgame, she still has much control over the most influential company. She is a vital character going into season 4, and you should keep an eye on her during this final season.
The season 4 premiere ends with highlighting Logan Roy’s loneliness despite owning Waystar Royco solely and Tom and Shiv’s failing marriage.
