Even though we do not know much about it, Tabihani is clearly the first of its kind. We have had anime that feature real-life locations, but they are never the main focus. Somehow, Tabihani looks to do just that.
The upcoming short anime features two high school girls who travel throughout Japan. Considering all the information surrounding the project, the anime will focus more on the tourism side of things than an overall story. Some of the locations are featured in the show’s most recent PV.
The official Twitter for Tabihani anime has released a short promotional video. The new original anime by Studio Hb is set to make its debut later this year.
The PV is a compilation of several backgrounds based on real locations in Japan that will appear in the series. These include the Tokyo Tower and the Nanzenji Temple area in Kyoto.
Japan is a pseudo pilgrimage that every one of us has dreamt of being on as anime fans. Although travel videos manage to scratch that itch a little bit, an anime that solely focuses on that just might hit it out of the park.
There isn’t a release date for the anime yet, but anytime during the remainder of the year would be a good release.
As things get better, it’s only a matter of time that Japan opens up for tourism again, and that will be an excellent opportunity for Tabihani.
While this may not be your standard anime project, this will be worth checking out if you are into traveling.
