Studio Ghibli and Lucasfilm are among the best players in the industry. Both companies have produced many people’s childhood favorites that they seem to enjoy even as adults.
So, when someone comes up with this crazy yet revolutionary idea of bringing these two companies together, there’s going to be a lot of chaos.
Studio Ghibli broke the nerd community by revealing its collaboration with Lucasfilm through a teaser.
The short clip first unveils Lucasfilm’s logo, followed by Studio Ghibli’s, which features its most beloved character, Totoro.
Both companies have yet to reveal any information regarding the kind of project they’re working on. It could be a film, a TV show, or even a live-action.
Since Studio Ghibli has only ever done anime films, while Lucasfilm has done both live-action and animations, the project will most likely be animated too. However, Ghibli loves to experiment and bring us something new and refreshing, so they might even go for a live-action.
Lucasfilm is most known for its action-filled thriller and sci-fi films like Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Studio Ghibli is more inclined towards the slice-of-life genre and portrays more profound and philosophical aspects of life.
To put it simply, a collab between these two sounds like Vader telling Luke he’s his father, but instead of screams and chaos, the scene is played on a beach with the calming sound of the ocean.
Two such polar opposite genres coming together sounds like an exciting venture, and I’m really looking forward to what they’re planning.
Will we get magical little stormtrooper fairies? Or Howl as the new Vader? Let us know what you think of this unexpected yet thrilling collab.
