As a kid, I liked the idea of being saved by a superhero. But then came the female superheroes. It started with the Powerpuff Girls and now, the idea of saving the world was more tempting than being saved.
With a significant surge of female superheroes recently in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I began to wonder who the strongest female savior is. I’m sure you want to know too.
That’s why I made a list of the strongest females in the MCU. The list obviously includes names like Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, and even Mantis and the Ancient One from Doctor Strange. So, sit back and relax while you read ahead.
10 Mantis
Kick names, take ass.
Mantis
Mantis is that cute girl with antennae on her head. She is a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy and can sense people’s feelings and alter them. The girl teamed up with Doctor Strange, Iron Man, and Spider-man to fight the mad titan, Thanos, head-on.
Unfortunately, the fight ended in failure. But five years after the snap, she is resurrected, and Mantis manages to survive the battle of Earth.
9 Okoye
I am loyal to that throne. No matter who sits upon it.
Okoye
Okoye can take on super soldiers. That puts her on the list of the strongest female characters in MCU. Okoye defended Wakanda with Avengers and her King against Thanos when he came to Earth to take Mind Stone from Vision.
Okoye is fiercely loyal to Wakanda and her King but is also not afraid of questioning him when she felt the need. She is also a master martial artist.
8 Gamora
I’m not your daughter. Everything I hate about myself, you taught me.
Gamora
And in doing so, made you the fiercest woman in the galaxy.
Thanos
Gamora is the adopted daughter and sister of Thanos and Nebula. She is also a former member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. She stays loyal to Thanos for a while then betrays him for her freedom.
Thanos trained Gamora as an assassin and combat and could alter her body. Also, Gamora ends up in a relationship with Star-Lord, who is Ego’s son.
7 Yelena Belova
Pain and suffering is every day, and we are both still a trained killer. Except I’m not the one that’s on the cover of a magazine. I’m not the killer that little girls call their hero.
Yelena Belova to Romanoff
Yelena is a totally badass character, and I’m here for it. She is fluent in sarcasm and is Natasha’s adopted sister. She is an elite assassin who was trained at the Red Room, just like Natasha.
Yelena’s sarcasm gives me life. And she has this strong sense of right and wrong, no matter how bent her moral compass is.
6 Black Widow—Natasha Romanoff
I used to have nothing. And then I got this. This job. This family. And I was better because of it. And even though they’re gone… I’m still trying to be better.
Natasha Romanoff
Natasha is one of the founding members of the Avengers, and god, I am sad that she sacrificed herself in Endgame, even more after watching the Black Widow film. But, unfortunately, MCU did her dirty, and there’s not much we can do about it.
She is a world-class spy and assassin. She was trained in the Red Room by Dreykov in the arts of assassination and combat.
5 Agatha Harkness
You didn’t think you were the only magical girl in town, did you? The name’s Agatha Harkness.
Agatha Harkness
If you’ve watched WandaVision, you know that Agatha pretended to be Wanda’s nosy neighbor, Agnes. But, unfortunately, she has quite a nasty past in her personal history.
Agatha was accused of practicing dark magic by her coven in Salem. In addition, she was accused of stealing magic from other witches to get her powers. She can also, surprisingly, mimic Wanda’s magic, even if to a lesser extent.
4 Ancient One—Sorcerer Supreme
I’ve hated drawing power from the Dark Dimension, but as you well know, sometimes one must break the rules to serve the greater good.
Sorcerer Supreme
One film that I absolutely love in the entire MCU is Doctor Strange. So many amazing things happen in the movie. I especially liked the introduction of the Ancient One.
Ancient One can control time and space, and a crew of cool masters of the mystical arts responsible for protecting time stone.
3 Hela
I am Hela, Odin’s firstborn, Commander of the legions of Asgard, the rightful heir to the throne, and the Goddess of Death.
Hela
She is your typical goddess of death and the firstborn child to Odin. She was held in hel for over millennia by Odin. But when she did come out of there, the chain of events lead to Ragnarok and the destruction of Asgard.
She is also a master combatant, a swords master, and an expert leader. She might not have been able to lift Mjolnir, but she was definitely strong enough to crush it, to show Loki and Thor that she is not weak.
2 Captain Marvel—Carol Danvers
I’m coming to end it. The war, the lies, all of it.
Captain Marvel
Captain Marvel’s origin story screams ‘being at the right place at the right time.’ She obtained her cosmic powers by being exposed to the energy released by Tesseract from the destroyed Light Speed Engine.
Sadly, she was used as a weapon by the Starforce. Kree had wiped her memories and made her believe that she was one of them. But thank god that she realizes that everything is not as it looks like.
1 Scarlet Witch —Wanda Maximoff
I used to think of myself one way. But, after this… I am something else. I’m still me, I think. But that’s not what everyone else sees.
Scarlet Witch
I think this is an obvious choice, especially after WandaVision.
Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, is the strongest female character in Marvel Cinematic Universe. Wanda has powers of spontaneous creation, reality, and even time manipulation. She can use magic for combat and non-combat purpose perfectly.
If nothing else, she created an alternative reality (called Hex) inside the town of Westview. Moreover, manipulating so many people’s minds, let alone of the dead, is already a great*curse*-deal. So, she deserves to be on the top.
Special Mentions: Storm, Valkyrie, and She-Hulk deserve to be here. The only reason these names couldn’t make it on the list is that I don’t know where to rank them—and honestly speaking? Every female superhero is absolutely badass.
About Marvel Cinematic Universe
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is an American media franchise and shared universe centered on a series of superhero films and TV series, independently produced by Marvel Studios and based on characters that appear in American comic books published by Marvel Comics.
The franchise includes comic books, short films, television series, and digital series. The shared universe, much like the original Marvel Universe in comic books, was established by crossing over common plot elements, settings, cast, and characters.
