The writers of the popular Netflix teen-fantasy series, Stranger Things, have penned down an incredible description of the upcoming season 5 of the series.
The Duffer brothers’ immensely successful Netflix series is all set to return for its ultimate season, and the team of writers has been working on it since August last year.
Stranger Things season 5 will take up the story from the earth-shattering cliffhanger of season 4, where the Upside-Down wreaked havoc on Hawkins.
The writers, who are currently working on season 5, have revealed a unique yet quirky description for the upcoming season. Have a look at it here –
The official Twitter account of the Stranger Things writers’ room (@strangerwriters) recently posted this brief teaser that suggests the upcoming final season will blend aspects from both the first and fourth seasons, while also taking things to an even greater scale.
It’s hardly a surprise that the writers of Stranger Things have claimed that season 5 will blend elements from both the first and fourth seasons. The Duffer brothers had previously revealed that the final season will take us back to the show’s origins and bring it full circle, particularly by revisiting the original groups and pairings of characters and tone from the first season.
In fact, season 4 itself had certain callbacks to season 1. For instance, Eleven was back to Papa’s laboratory and the entirety of the last season featured various clips from her time in the laboratory. She even sported the same hairstyle from season 1.
Steve and Nancy began bonding again, just like in season 1, except that Steve is now a better person. In the end, we see visuals of the Upside-Down similar to that of season 1.
Moreover, as we all recall all the trouble began with Will disappearing in season 1 and the last scene of the season 4 finale also ended with Will feeling a little different from the others. So, the show is definitely coming to a full circle as things are going to end with Will as well.
However, it will be quite a challenge for Stranger Things season 5 to blend the light-hearted tone of season 1 with the dark and sinister tone of season 4. Furthermore, the story of season 1 was contained within the town of Hawkins, while season 4 spanned across various locations such as California and Russia.
It seems logical for Stranger Things season 5 to incorporate elements from season 4, as the upcoming season will continue the story directly from the Upside Down’s attack on Hawkins, while also featuring a substantial time jump.
The Duffer brothers have stated that this time jump will accommodate the aging cast, but it could also result in the show drifting even further away from its season 1 roots. Although there are still many unknowns about the plot of Stranger Things season 5, the brief teaser suggests that the final season will build on what made the show so immensely popular, while also taking it to new heights.
