Viz Media wished Happy Letterer Appreciation Day to all manga letterers via a Tweet with an illustration from the Demon Slayer manga.
Letterer Appreciation Day is being celebrated on September 1 every year since 2017 in memory of the great letterer, Gasper Saladino.
Saladino who died on August 4, 2016 was not only a letterer for DC and Marvel comics but have also designed several superhero logos.
The work of a letterer includes setting dialogues in mangas or comics, creating appropriate speech bubbles, and placing proper sound effects.
Lettering can make or break a work. A good letterer knows how to choose fonts that blend in with the theme and tone of the series and help it stand out.
