Legend of the Galactic Heroes

A 24-episode sequel to “Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These” has been announced through the franchise’s official website and Twitter account.
Production I.G is returning to produce the sequel. The sequel’s announcement was accompanied by a special news PV featuring a few prominent characters.
The Legend of The Galactic Heroes franchise began with a sci-fi novel series by Yoshiki Tanaka. The first anime adaptation by Kitty Films aired in 1988.
The latest and ongoing anime adaptation is an alternative version of the old 1988 series by Production I.G that ran from April to June 2018.
This was followed by a 3-part film series launched from September to November 2019. Another anime adaptation by Sentai Filmworks aired in 2017.
For over 150 years, two interstellar states have fought for dominance over the Milky Way - The Galactic Empire and The Free Planets Alliance.
The Galactic Empire is a dictatorship ruled by the tyrant Kaiser Friedrich IV. The Free Planets Alliance is a democracy led by a corrupt High Council.
