The story of Kinsō no Vermeil begins with a student at the magic school, Alto, who was on the verge of repeating the school year.

3 characters – Alto, Vermeil, and Lilia have been introduced for the series. Alto Goldfield is the main protagonist of the series. He is a student at the magic school.

Vermeil is the demon that was sealed in the book. She gets summoned by Alto and becomes his familiar.

Lilia Kudelfeyt is a student at the magic school. She is a childhood friend of Alto and loves him dearly.

Watching the trailer, the series looks like Lucoa’s and Shota’s relationship from Dragon Maid, except it is the whole show, with fantasy light novel tropes sprinkled in.
