Halo Trailer: Steven Spielberg Offers Fresh Take on Popular Game

Ahead of the most-awaited 2022 debut, Paramount+ has released a new look at Halo. The series dropped an epic trailer focusing on the supporting characters and their personal journeys.

The show, adapted from the popular video game of the same name, will have the same characters but emphasize on struggles and human stories, rather than just the Master Chief and the war.

The new trailer has mystifying background music accompanying visuals of destruction, resistance, betrayal, and hope. Viewers are introduced to the brave 16-year-old Kwan Ha-boo, played by Yerin Ha, who has taken it upon herself to right the wrongs of the Covenant—who destroyed her people.

There’s also a sense of betrayal from allies, as Admiral Margaret Parangosky, essayed by the veteran Indian actor Shabana Azmi, plans on rebelling against Dr. Halsey (Natascha McElhone).

Meanwhile, Dr. Halsey, who created Master Chief (Pablo Schreiber) and other Spartans, also finds herself in a tight spot. There are also some disturbing scenes such as a bleeding human body laid on a table and then drowned in a liquid.

Halo promises a refreshing new look at the classic video game. From a unique perspective of characters to storylines to even the focus of the major plot—the series has gained considerable hype.

In particular, Kwan Ha and Master Chief’s connection is one of the most anticipated storylines, especially because they contrast and complement each other.

“I think Kwan’s sarcasm and honesty brings out this new side to Master Chief that we never really see. Kwan is just so done with everything, she has nothing to lose anymore. Master Chief is physically daunting, but I think Kwan is, emotionally, just as strong. I tried to approach her with that kind of energy and that kind of spirit.”
