Stephen Amell addresses Oliver Queen’s Flash S9 Appearance

Arrow actor Stephen Amell has recently talked about a potential season 9 appearance. A spin-off of the concluding Arrowverse, The Flash is currently under production for season 9.

The Flash debuted on the CW in 2014, starring Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, a scientist who develops a technology to fight nefarious superhumans. Barry first appeared in the Arrowverse in Arrow season 2 alongside Amell as Oliver Queen’s The Green Arrow. The duo has also shared the screen in various other crossovers like Flash vs. Arrow.

According to Bleeding Cool, Stephen Amell recently addressed his potential return to the Arrowverse in an Instagram Live. He said the franchise hasn’t invited him, but he feels he is more than ready to make his final Arrowverse appearance.

People ask me if I’m going to come back for ‘The Flash’ final season. I guess you’re just going to have to watch. Haven’t been asked, but, you know, that’d be fun.

A big question is how to make his return work, given that Oliver Queen died in Crisis on Infinite Earths, the crossover that was also Arrow’s series finale.

Amell has made it clear that he wants to return to the Arrowverse as soon as possible. He even tweeted about the show’s tenth anniversary, wondering “if the suit still fits”.

These comments echo his genuine desire to make a grand comeback in some form or the other.

So, how can the creators rework the fate of Oliver Queen to bring her back to the Arrowverse?

There are a lot of ways that could make this possible.

Olivier Queen derives his power from the Spectre. In Crisis of Infinite Earths, he combined that with the Book of Destiny which saved the multiverse. In his final moments, Arrow reunited with Felicity in an alternate dimension. So, his death isn’t confirmed as of yet.

Spectre is one of DC’s most powerful entities. So, his death can easily be explained as a lost soul in some alternate dimension.

Amell has also suggested an entire series solely dedicated to Oliver Queen and the other characters of Arrow. This indicates that Amell would like to work on an individual project in the future rather than have a special appearance.

Whatever happens, the filming of The Flash season 9 is far from over, and we will surely have many surprises waiting for us!
