Stargirl Season 3 Finale Ending: Long Live JSA & Season 4’s Possibility

The CW axing most DC TV series suddenly, did not give most shows, like Batgirl and Legends of Tomorrow, a chance to tie loose ends. But the showrunners of DC’s Stargirl got a fair warning about the show’s cancellation after season 3’s end and planned accordingly. Maybe that’s why the show delivered a well-written series finale!

Despite keeping two endings for season 3, in hopes of renewal, the show went with an end that still gave us hope for a potential season 4, even though all storylines have been tied up neatly.

Most of the season 3 finale dealt with the riveting fight between the JSA and the Injustice Society of America after the penultimate episode’s reveal about Ultra-Humanite posing as Starman.

Stargirl VS Starman

After the action-packed drama and Icicle’s defeat at the hands of Artemis, we see the character moving on and redeeming their second chances. Wildcat, Dugan, and Mid-Nite reconcile with their families, Courtney helps the new Icicle get a handle on his powers, and Hourman visits Solomon Grundy, who probably made it out of his grave. And then the episode made its last time jump, ten years later, at the JSA Museum, with Shade leading a tour, and we see Frenemies made it to the team in later years.

The ending with Garrick entering and hinting at possible adventures with Stargirl and the other JSA members might’ve given the fandom some hope for the show’s revival. But neither the CW nor HBO have any plans to continue the series, and the ending just shows that the JSA will continue the good fight as long as they’re there.

With no hopes for season 4, we’re still pretty happy with how the show ended and hope Gunn-Safran might take Stargirl up in the new DCU slate.
