Starfield by Bethesda was announced at E3 in 2018, though the name was trademarked in 2013. So, the game has been in the working area for almost a decade.
Video Games Chronicle’s Editor-in-Chief Andy Robinson sparked the rumors when he tweeted that the “Starfield showcase is imminent,” “as soon”. His claims were confirmed by YouTuber Rand Al Thor 19 and Windows Central Editor Jez Corden on their Xbox Two podcast, wherein they spoke about Starfield only after getting confirmation from sources.
While Andy Robinson didn’t provide additional information on the claims, Rand and Corden shed some more light after a good 2hr 24 minutes into their latest podcast episode.
The two had a private conversation about it the day before. If it is to be believed, then Microsoft and Bethesda are set to announce the showcase in the coming week. Cordon claimed to have heard something similar, but the duo kept it quiet until Cordon got a formal confirmation from his sources.
Rand went on to claim that since before the Game Awards, he has heard rumors that Bethesda will hold the Starfield showcase in March or April 2023.
Cordon also noted that he, Rand, and Robinson most likely have separate independent sources. So, it’s highly unlikely that the news is going to bounce off. Thus, the rumors do have some weight to them.
Cordon and Rand were still treading carefully and asked listeners not to mistake this rumor for facts. Their claims of a showcase in March/April 2023 align well with the leaked/rumored release date of June 2023.
These rumors will spark a new wave of joy, atop the claims by Todd Howard describing Starfield as “Skyrim in space.” With space exploration and a magnitude that befits the name, as there are over 1000 planets, the game is playable in the first or third person.
