Starfield Trailer Shown At E3 Created Solely With In-Game Footage

E3 wrapped last week, but we are still dealing with the hangover of all the titles teased during the convention. The Xbox and Bethesda Showcase was amongst the most hyped, with the likes of Halo Infinite, Forza 5, and Starfield making an appearance.

Starfield, in particular, was one of the most eagerly awaited games, and the trailer did not disappoint. What’s even more impressive is that all the footage for the trailer was in-game visuals!

Starfield was initially announced back in 2019 at E3 as Bethesda’s next IP. At that time, most fans were asking for an Elder Scrolls 6, and so Starfield was met with mixed reactions.

Now, after getting a better look at the game, fans are intrigued with what will happen on this sci-fi space exploration adventure.

This news comes to us from Bethesda Senior Lighting Artist Keith Beltramini who said that the team did not use any form of cinematic tools to create the short but captivating teaser. He put this out on his personal site, along with the first trailer video of Starfield and some stills.

At the bottom of the post, Beltramini lets the readers know that everything they saw was in-game footage, not fancy CGI. This means that all the footage we saw was created, rendered, and produced by Bethesda’s in-house Creation Engine 2.

Starfield is one of Bethesda’s first games to be made using this new 3D engine, and the trailer was an excellent strategic move to show off the rendering capabilities of the software.

Given how beautiful the trailer was, Bethesda is raising our hopes for the finished game.

Beltramini said he worked closely with Istvan Pely, the game’s director, to assist in the art direction for lighting and mood within the trailer. The stills he posted also show how well the sci-fi, ’out-of-this-world feeling and atmosphere has been captured.

While most of the image features the cryptic yet iconic Starfield ship, it gives fans a better understanding of the title’s outer space scene and cosmic environment.

Starfield is slated for a November 2022 release, and we can expect Bethesda to release more information as we get closer to the release window.

Hopefully, we’ll soon get to know more about the protagonist and story narrative so we can get a better understanding of what we’ll be encountering “out there.”
