Bethesda is no stranger to post-launch expansions. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, for instance, which was launched over a decade ago, is still relevant to this day, thanks to the extra content it received from time to time.
Not to forget, even the modding community welcomed Skyrim with open arms and transformed the ways of this epic fantasy by introducing a new dimension to it altogether. Skyrim is a huge testament to what happens when the developer and modders join hands to work for the betterment of a game.
Thankfully, Bethesda is not changing its modus operandi this time around, too, as its much-anticipated Space RPG, Starfield, will follow the footsteps of Skyrim by receiving additional post-launch content and modding support.
Talking to IGN, Bethesda director Todd Howard confirmed that Starfield will receive post-launch DLC expansions after it releases in 2023. He went on to add that Bethesda loves the modding community and will ensure the upcoming title is rife with modding opportunities.
We’ve learned that people do play our games for a really, really long time. They’re still playing Skyrim – not straight for 10 years, but they leave it, and they come back, and there’s extra content. Certainly, we’re going to be doing extra content for this game, and we love our modding community. We actually think this game, for our modding community, is going to be a dream as there’s so much they could do.

Given that Starfield is still a year away from release, we have no idea what the DLC would be like. But still, it’s good to know that Bethesda will keep pouring love onto the title to ensure players keep coming back to it.
Furthermore, with Starfield confirmed to have over 1,000 explorable planets and a detailed capital city, it’s going to be a paradise for modders to let their imagination run wild.
