Star Wars Outlaws Crashing on PC? Here are six things you can try

Star Wars Outlaws launches today and you need to make sure you are all set for the intergalactic adventure! Many players reported that their game crashed either at launch or a mere few minutes after booting. If you are facing the same issue, here’s a couple of tricks you can try out.

The reason why Star Wars Outlaws is crashing on your PC could be because of:

  • incompatible hardware
  • outdated GPU drivers
  • corrupt game file
  • background applications
  • overheating device
  • incorrect game settings

1. Incompatible Hardware

Star Wars Outlaws is a graphically demanding game and your setup might not be the right fit for it. Check out the system requirements to see if you made the cut.

2. Outdated GPU Drivers

If you can’t remember the last time you updated your GPU drivers, you should do it ASAP.

You can use AMD Radeon Software or Nvidia GeForce Experience to update your drivers. If you have a different manufacturer, simply go to their website and download the latest version of your GPU.

3. Game Files

Oftentimes, game files can become corrupted thus hindering your gaming experience. Here’s a quick fix:

  • Launch Ubisoft Connect.
  • Go to your game library.
  • Click on the three dots next to the Star Wars Outlaws icon.
  • Select Manage, then Verify Files.

4. Overheating

If a game is graphically demanding, the toll it will take on your computer can be more than what it is capable of. As a result, your system could overheat. (You’ll know when your PC sounds like it is about to take off!)

In such cases, your game will be forcefully shut to prevent damaging the hardware. You can use tools like Nvidia GeForce Experience or HWMonitor to keep a track of temperatures.

5. Background Applications

To make sure Star Wars Outlaws has the resources required, shut down any running background applications to free up RAM.

Go to Task Manager and go through the list of ongoing applications. Close whatever you don’t require.

6. In-Game Settings

If you are running a game on high graphics settings on a mid-range setup, it could cause your game to be buggy or even fail to launch.

Go to graphics settings and change everything to low. Try running your game again and come back to switch things up one by one. If the game starts lagging again, go to settings and revert your changes.
