The new book also clears up the events that led to Ben Solo’s fall to the dark side, his emergence as Kylo Ren, and Luke Skywalker’s subsequent exile following his student’s transformation. Not only that, but the publication also marks the exact year in which these life-changing events take place!
The year 28ABY was crucial in the Star Wars universe, especially for Ben Solo. But which was the first domino to fall that year, setting the course for the other events? It turns out that the public outing of Leia Organa’s secret about her being Darth Vader’s biological daughter was the spark that began Ben Solo’s transformation.
Leia is publicly exposed as Darth Vader’s biological daughter, leading to the end of her political career and shattering her relationship with her son, Ben Solo.

Leia had to step down from her position at the New Republic Senate after the exposé, but the effects on her personal life were far worse. Ben Solo’s relationship with his parents and uncle was shattered, and the whispers from Palpatine/Snoke only added fuel to his curiosity about his real grandfather.
