The Star Wars saga has expanded to a whole new galaxy in Ahsoka episode 6, packed with thrilling surprises and enormous consequences for the franchise’s future.
Ahsoka has been chasing after Morgan Elsbeth and her cronies, who are trying to bring back Grand Admiral Thrawn from his exile.
This week’s episode gives us our first glimpse of this mysterious galaxy and some epic comebacks and reunions from the Star Wars lore.
After Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) undergoes a stunning resurrection in Ahsoka episode 5, she follows Morgan Elsbeth’s trail using a giant hyperspace ring and an ancient star map. She is still on her way with the help of a pod of star whales and the Jedi droid Huyang, but Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) has already arrived at the planet of Peridea, where she joined Baylan Skoll in her quest to find Ezra Bridger (who disappeared with Thrawn).
The History Of The Star Wars Galaxy Begins With Peridea
Ahsoka and Huyang are on a journey inside the giant Purrgil’s mouth, where they discover the origin of the Star Wars galaxy.
Huyang explains that Peridea, the world they are visiting, is one of his oldest galaxies in the universe, which was there before everything started. He thought it was only a legend, but now he knows it is real.
He starts his story with the iconic words: “A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…” and that is enough to send chills down our spines!
The Ancient Nightsisters Dwell in Peridea
Morgan Elsbeth and her cohorts Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati arrive on Peridea, where three Nighsisters greet them.
They have brought Sabine as their prisoner, hoping to use her as a bargaining chip. Morgan reveals that Peridea is the ancient birthplace of her kind, the Dathimiri witches. They left this world long ago, following the purrgil star whales that they call “The Travelers.”
They found a new home on a planet that became known as Dathomir, where they practiced their dark magic.
The Clone Wars wiped out most of the Nightsisters and their ties to Maul in the Star Wars galaxy.
However, on Peridea, the Nightsisters are still alive and influence the new trio called Great Mothers.
We also realize that they are stuck on this planet because the Purrgil go there to end their lives. Thus, they can’t take the help of the giant whales to get out!
Morgan Elsbeth Finally Finds Thrawn
The long-awaited reunion of Morgan Elsbeth and Grand Admiral Thrawn finally happens in this week’s episode.
Morgan has been loyal to Thrawn even before he was banished from the main Star Wars galaxy, as revealed by The Mandalorian.
Now, after years of serving his cause, she sees her efforts rewarded with his return. With the help of Morgan and her ties to the Nightsisters, Thrawn has a way to come back to the galactic stage.
Thrawn’s legendary Chimaera emerges from the shadows along with his loyal Night Troopers, who followed him into exile after the events of Star Wars Rebels. These troopers have seen many battles and hardships, as their scarred and damaged armor shows.
Thrawn also has a new ally in Captain Enoch, a mysterious figure with a golden mask and a modified suit of armor.
This is the moment that The Mandalorian season 3 hinted at when Captain Pellaeon spoke of Thrawn’s return as the catalyst for the Imperial Remnant’s revival. Thrawn’s forces are a formidable threat to the galaxy, and they will not stop until they free their Grand Admiral from Peridea.
Sabine Finally Finds Ezra Bridger
Sabine Wren is a prisoner on the way to Peridea, but Thrawn keeps his word to Baylan and lets the Mandalorian Jedi go and search for Ezra Bridger.
In this week’s episode, Sabine finally reunites with her old Jedi friend in an emotionally overflowing scene.
However, Thrawn had a nefarious plan in mind. Most probably, he lets Sabine go so that he can leave them stranded in that galaxy while he and his crew escape.
Baylon’s True Motive: A New Supervillain in the Star Wars Saga?
Baylan Skoll confides in his apprentice that he is on a quest for a hidden power that could end the endless war that has ravaged the galaxy for ages.
This gives us reason to believe that a new threat might show itself in Ahsoka that will be bigger than the ruthless Thrawn himself. Baylan admits that he still longs for the ideal of the Jedi Order, not the corrupted version that existed during the prequel trilogy.
Could he be looking for a way to create a new order that surpasses the Jedi? Perhaps a new order, and a new supervillain?
Thrawn vs. Ahsoka Tano: The Ultimate Endgame?
In the final parts of episode 6, Grand Admiral Thrawn is eager to know everything about his new enemy, Ahsoka Tano, who is coming with the Purrgils she befriended.
Ahsoka is the biggest threat to Thrawn’s plan to return to the main Star Wars galaxy. However, Thrawn has a connection with Ahsoka’s former master, Anakin Skywalker, aka the Darth Vader. Thrawn might use this knowledge to physically and emotionally decimate Ahsoka in an epic showdown between the two sides.
Ahsoka will need to find Sabine and Ezra soon. Ezra might be aware of some new weaknesses or chinks in the armor of Thrawn’s extensive army. This might be her only chance at redemption.
