Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Episode 6 Recap
The Enterprise responds to a distress signal and intervenes between two battling ships. This results in the aggressor attacking the Enterprise as well. When they move forward to rescue the passengers after accidentally causing severe damage to the aggressor ship, Pike comes across a past lover.
Alora was the one that raised the distress signal and she explains that they were attacked while transporting a child. This child was deemed to be an important religious figure who was preparing to succeed to a position of power. While Singh and Uhura explore the wreckage of the attacking ship, Pike and Alora discover a conspiracy against ‘The First Servant.’
Pike is horrified to discover that the ascension ritual was actually a sacrifice. Alora seems to justify the sacrifice of children, as the sacrifice of the ‘First Servant’ is how the Magellus civilization sustains their ecosystem and ensures their continued survival. When Pike tries to stop the sacrifice from taking place, he is forcefully taken away by the guards.
