The Cerritos and Carlsbad crews are tasked with disposing of mines on a strange planet. While the Cerritos crew initially gets competitive upon learning that the Carlsbad junior officers are aware of their reputation, they later learn that the Carlsbad crew actually looks up to them.
The mission starts to go awry when the mine-induced hallucinations become tangible after Stevens accidentally breaks the stored mines.
1. Episode 4 Speculation
While the crew experiences hallucinations in the mines, Mariner’s relationship with Ensign Jennifer Sh’reyan inadvertently gets exposed. Now that her relationship is out in the open, we’re likely to see a bigger focus on it throughout the series.
After having exposed the black market operation, the Cerritos crew celebrate their victory. It will definitely be a confidence boost for them to know that their adventures are legendary amongst other Starfleet support vehicles.

The Cerritos is tasked with clearing out and relocating a Federation outpost. The psychic mines in this strange new world emit strange green energy that takes on different forms to lure the explorers in.
The Cerritos crew has to work alongside the Carlsbad crew and are shocked to learn that they have a bad reputation amongst the Carslbad’s junior officers, causing them to become more competitive.
Stevens accidentally breaks the stored mines, resulting in the hallucinations experienced by the crews becoming dangerously real. The combined crews quickly take shelter in a nearby cave.
They discover that the mines are telepathically sending the information acquired from them to a source deep inside the cave. Eventually, they find out that the conflict between the scientists and the locals was just a ruse to gather information from Starfleet and sell it on the black market.
6. About Star Trek: Lower Decks
Created by Mike McMahan, Star Trek: Lower Decks is an adult animated science fiction series. It is the ninth Star Trek series that is part of Alex Kurtzman’s expanded Star Trek Universe.
Set in the late 24th Century, the show follows the adventures and missions of “lower deckers” or low ranking officers on one of Starfleet’s least important starships, the USS Cerritos.
The show premiered in August 6, 2020 on CBS All Access. It has been renewed for its fourth season in 2023.
