Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 Episode 13 Speculation
Burnham is dedicated to seeking a diplomatic resolution with Species 10C. She works on deciphering the species’ language so they can communicate better, especially considering the time-sensitive nature of the mission.
She is able to make progress and just as they begin the communications to clarify why the first dark matter anomaly was destroyed, Tarka carries out his plan, causing Species 10C to teleport the delegation back and ending contact abruptly.
Tarka’s deception is out in the open and Reno is able to alert the Discovery about what he did.
The stakes are higher than ever as Burnham and the delegation are now tasked with not only stopping Tarka but also stopping the anomaly from destroying Earth. Will they succeed in their mission? Find out in the season finale.

Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 Episode 12 Recap
Burnham and her delegation’s mission to seek a diplomatic resolution continues as they discover that the hydro-carbons are Species 10C’s method of communication.
The linguistics team on the Discovery is able to decipher the hydro-carbons and send a group of robots to convey that they seek a peaceful resolution with the civilization.
In response to this, the Discovery is pulled further into Species 10C’s area of space, and a strange substance envelopes them.
Tarka continues to focus on finding the power source of the anomaly, even though Book tries to get him to find a way to escape the substance that is slowly expanding over the Starship.
Burnham tries to deescalate the situation by beaming a supply of boronite to Species 10C, as they were using the anomaly to mine it. Culber notices that Reno is missing.
Meanwhile, Reno picks up on the friction between Book and Tarka. She realizes that Tarka intends to gain the power source even if it means destroying the Discovery in the process.
She alerts Book of Tarka’s deceptive plans and he confronts him. Tarka overpowers Book in the confrontation and throws Book into the same cell as Reno.
