The Toe Animation YouTube channel released a video revealing that the staff that worked on the sci-fi anime film Expelled From Paradise is now working on a new anime film project expected to come out in Spring of 2023.
The video hinted at the official announcement of the upcoming project and featured a teaser visual which features a short-haired pistol-wielding girl clad in a futuristic-looking leotard and boots.
The staff for this new project includes anime director Seiji Mizushima, writer Gen Urobuchi, and character designer Masatsugu Saito, with animation production by Toei Animation. Nitroplus, which was co-credited with Toei Animation with the original concept for Expelled from Paradise, has its name attached to the new project as well.
Urobuchi reported that Renji Oki, a Nitroplus writer who wrote an Expelled from Paradise side-story novel, is teaming up on the background materials for the new project.
Toei Animation‘s Expelled from Paradise producer and CG director Kouichi Noguchi is working on the new project. The staff has not yet revealed what the story is about but based on the visuals, it appears to be a sci-film set in a futuristic world.
The new anime project was first teased by director Seiji Mizushima in July 2021 when the posted a character visual by Saito.
