Fans of Law & Order are about to have their plates full with two new seasons of Special Victims Unit (SVU) and Organized Crime coming September 23 on NBC. The franchise has released first-looks for both shows.

Law & Order SVU will be premiering its 23rd season this coming week, which is impressive in itself. The cherry on the top is that a beloved figure will also be making a comeback into SVU: Elliot Stabler played by Christopher Meloni.
He has been a crucial figure in the show next to Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) ever since the show’s debut in 1999 but made an exit after Season 11.
Finally, after a decade, the detective will be on screen with Benson; a slow-burn romance that fans have shipped for a long time.
Benson’s own plot this season will surround taking down predatory congressman George Howard (Ben Rappaport). Other actors reprising their roles are Kelli Giddish, Ice-T, Peter Scanavino, and Octavio Pisano.
Sadly, Jamie Gray Hyder and Demore Barnes will be leaving the show. Their final appearance will be in SVU S23’s two-hour premiere.
While Meloni as Stabler may be “returning” to the Law & Order world of SVU, he already made his second grand debut as the lead in Law & Order Organized Crime.
The spin-off show premiered its first-ever season this April itself, setting up the premise with eight episodes.
By the looks of it, it was all well-received as the second season is set to air a little less than four months later, now with a 24-episode order.
This season, Stabler will be going undercover in an Albanian gang under the leadership of Vinnie Jones’ Albi Briscu. Tensions are high, and risks, even higher as Stabler aims to complete his mission without getting caught.
We can expect to see Dylan McDermott, Tamara Taylor, Danielle Moné Truitt, and Ainsley Seiger back in their roles in Organized Crime, along with newcomers Ron Cephas Jones and Guillermo Díaz (of This Is Us and Scandal, respectively).
It is quite fitting to have both shows premiering (and airing) together as the actors themselves have expressed that the story of Law & Order is very cohesive, even so with Stabler’s connection to both.
Thursdays are now to be dedicated to Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Organized Crime.
