The global phenomenon, Squid Game, might not stop only at a sequel but go beyond it with a season 3 too.
In an interview with KBS via EDaily, Hwang Dong-hyuk, creator of Squid Game, revealed the status of the viral K-drama’s much-awaited sequel.
Since the cliffhanger ending and the insane after-effects worldwide, fans have been waiting for more information on the sequel. The director previously confirmed a season 2, but he shared that the discussions might conclude soon in a recent interview.
Additionally, Hwang shared even more exciting news – he and Netflix are keeping all possibilities open for a Squid Game season 3 too.
As per Soompi’s translation,
I’m currently in the midst of discussions with Netflix about Season 2 and Season 3. I think we’ll be reaching some sort of conclusion [to our discussions] soon. We know that many people are waiting, so everyone is working hard to prepare for the next season with a positive outlook.

Meanwhile, Hwang also discussed the official plotline of season 2. He revealed it would focus on Lee Jung-jae’s Seong Gi-hun and his vengeful quest of finding the people behind the horrifying games. He will meet many characters and unearth multiple secrets in the sequel.
With an open-ended finale of season 1, fans were sure of Netflix treating them to a sequel. But conversations around season 3 being a stretch have also begun.
Squid Game took the world by storm as the K-drama dealt with complex layers of class, greed, and struggle, twisting it in a child’s play offering a balance of thrill and wit.
The Korean drama even shattered many records and won a Breakthrough series at Gotham Awards, the first for a Korean drama to win a major US award show.
The dangerous games led to a tide of K-dramas being consumed on Netflix and topping charts, such as My Name and Hellbound too.
