The 2022 Critics Choice Awards will have Lee Jung-jae, Jung Ho-yeon and Park Hae-soo of Squid Game as the presenters, announced the Critics Choice Association on March 11.
The announcement comes as a pleasant surprise as the Netflix dystopian thriller series Squid Game bagged three Critics Choice Awards nominations – Best Drama Series, Best Actor in a Drama Series (for Lee Jung-jae), and Best Foreign Language Series.
Along with the leading actors, series director Hwang Dong-hyuk will also be attending the awards ceremony.
Other presenters for the CCA 2022 include Taika Waititi, Jimmy Kimmel, Kristen Wiig, J.K. Simmons, and sisters Serena and Venus Williams.
The series made incredible strides at the Screen Actors Guild Awards for Best Actress and Best Actor in a Drama Series, Gotham Independent Film Award for Breakthrough Series, and the historic win of Oh Yeon-soo at the Golden Globe awards, expectations for CCA also rise.
Lee Jung-jae and Jung Ho-yeon also became the first Korean actors to win a SAG Award. The Netflix sensation charted No. 1 on the OTT platform even a week after its release.
Squid Game is on the path of being included in South Korean content that goes down in history, such as Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite and Lee Isaac Chung’s Minari.
Meanwhile, all the lead actors are booked and busy. This year, Lee Jung-jae has two movie releases—Wiretap with Kim Woo-bin and Lee Min-ho and his directorial debut Hunt, where he will act alongside Jung Woo-sung.
Park Hae-soo’s future is Netflix again. The actor will be playing the popular character Berlin in the Korean adaptation of Money Heist called Money Heist Korea: Joint Economic Area.
Jung Ho-yeon marked her directorial debut with Squid Game and bagged multiple acting awards. She returned to her first profession, modeling, and opened for the Louis Vuitton presentation at Paris Fashion Week on March 8.
The model and actress walked the ramp for the first time after her international success.
