2. Episode 4 Speculation

This episode was focused on Yuri and his missions in the State Security Service. Since he entered Yor’s house at the end of the scene, we may continue from the same point in the next episode. Even Anya was moved to console him, and Yor naturally tends to him as a good older sister.

The next episode may also focus on Anya since all the previous ones were about the side characters. We have not seen an episode with Anya in school this season or her dynamic with Desmond.

3. Recap of Episode 3

Yuri coordinates the raid on a secret spy operation from outside the room. He has already sent in an undercover agent to gather all the necessary evidence before arresting the spy, Conrad. He gets praised by his boss for his excellent performance.

He gets assigned his next mission; Franklin has spread much propaganda about the country. He carefully notes down every move, seemingly ordinary throughout. Every report is filled out with details, even if they seem unnecessary.

Franklin throws a toy in the trash and takes pictures while the kids search through it. He uses it to create a fake story about the poverty situation in the country. Franklin mails his article secretly at the post office without anyone spotting him except Yuri.

The following day, Franklin spots the State Secret Service outside his door. He tells his father they may not meet again for a while. Yuri arrests him quietly and assures him that his father will regularly get money to care for himself.

He somewhat sympathizes with Franklin because of his motives. It isn’t a legal or correct way to make money, but it was for the sake of his family. After arresting him, Yuri can’t think of anything except the mission.

To try and clear his mind off everything, he visits Yor. He gets annoyed that Loid is also there but comes in regardless. Anya reads his mind and realizes what’s going on. She heads over and pats him on the leg in an attempt to console him.

Spy × Family is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuya Endo in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump.

The story follows a spy who has to “build a family” to execute a mission, not realizing that the girl he adopts as a daughter and the woman he agrees to be in a fake marriage with are a mind reader and an assassin respectively.

Season 2 and a theatrical film are releasing in 2023.
