If you were to gather a team for impossible missions with a success rate of less than 10%, would you pick a group of geniuses or one of the failures? The obvious answer would be to assemble the best out of the best, but Spy Classroom’s Klaus doesn’t think so.
This man made an elite spy squad out of the worst-performing students from their respective spy academies. What is Klaus’ reasoning behind this? Does he have an ulterior motive?
All of this will only be answered when the Spy Classroom debuts on January 5, 2023, with its first episode.
The franchise has also revealed a promo video that confirms the date and previews the anime’s opening theme song, ‘Tōka’ (Light), by nonoc.
It begins with Klaus’ monolog in the background, which explains the spy situation and how it came to be. After innocent citizens got hurt due to constant wars, the world’s governments decided to continue fighting in the shadows.
Due to this, spy academies were established, which recruited youngsters to train and become elite agents for the country.
The story then comes to Lily, a girl who excels in theory but has poor practical skills, making her a highly incompetent spy. Klaus recruits Lily into a mysterious team, Tomoshibi, along with six other girls just like her.

Spy Classroom is a manga series by Takemachi and illustrated by Tomari. It was first launched as a light novel in January 2020 and received a manga adaptation in May 2020. It received an anime in 2023.
