Spriggan, the science fiction manga by Hiroshi Takashige is getting an anime series adaptation by Netflix. The manga was one of the most famous ones during its publication period from 1989-1996.
The phrase “old is gold” most definitely applies to this series. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, human civilization is learning to survive again. However, the tendency of violence and warfare is still latent even after generations.
A tweet by Netflix Japan Anime announced the upcoming anime adaptation of Spriggan. The anime will premiere in 2021.

A new visual was also released for the Spriggan ONA(Original Net Anime Adaptation).
The visual highlights the main character of the series, Yu Ominae. It is accompanied by the tagline, Yu Ominae roars his name to the whole world.
Yu is standing with his back facing towards us in the visual. The projection of the ancient Hebrew messages engraved in plates is shown on his back.
These inscriptions are the messages from the past civilization to the present one so that destruction doesn’t befall on mankind again.
Spriggan will be animated by David Production studio and will be released by Netflix worldwide.
This endeavour will make Spriggan known to the world as well as to anime fans once again.

The manga is also known as Striker in North America. It was adapted into an anime film in 1998 by Studio 4°C. It was also adapted into a Playstation game called Lunar Verse.
