This is the day we’ve been waiting for — the final trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home is out! Parker has messed up Doctor Strange’s spell big time, and the trailer reveals all its consequences. Let’s break it down!
Peter Parker Messes Up The Spell
No Way Home continues the story from Far From Home, with JK Simmon’s Jonah Jameson outing Parker as Spider-Man and blaming him for Mysterio’s death.
You can only imagine that the unwanted scrutiny has turned Spidey’s life upside down. His solution? Get Doctor Strange to abracadabra everyone into forgetting Peter is Spider-Man.
In the previous trailer, we see that the spell doesn’t work as it should. The final trailer has Doctor Strange confirm that it was Peter who messed it up. Intentional or not? That will be left for the movie.
Hello Sinister Six (…Five?)
There’s been no dearth of teasing us that No Way Home will have many adversaries. Doctor Octopus with his gnarly tentacles was the only villain openly publicized everywhere. But as ardent (obsessive) fans, we also managed to figure out the rest of the appearances.
Still, in the latest trailer, it is very reassuring to see Green Goblin, Electro, Sandman, and Lizard in the flesh. (Most of them have very comic-book accurate costumes too!) But the iconic title is Sinister Six… so is the movie hiding away one last villain from us?
As Strange explains, the messed-up spell opened up their world to all of these villains from other universes. But that’s not all — Peter is hit with the fact that these villains “die fighting off Spider-Man.”
With the villains already having a vendetta against one of the other versions of Spider-Man, things have just gone from worst to worst-est for Peter.
“You’re Not Peter Parker.”
It’s not that Peter does not trust Strange, but in his own rebellious ways, he, Ned, and MJ seem to take matters into their own hands. Because of this, at some junctures in the trailer, Strange is seen trying to stop Parker’s plans.
There’s an apparent problem: the multiverse opening. There’s Peter’s ideal solution: saving everyone. But as MJ falls down a crumbling building Emma Stone’s Gwen-style, Spidey realizes saving everyone is far from possible.
The trailer paints quite a bleak ending for Peter. But what if he was aided by people who completely understood his adversaries? After all, why else would Doctor Oct say, “You’re not Peter Parker”?
(Fingers crossed, this is not him simply reminiscing about the “previous” version of Spider-Man he knew).
The Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer is nothing short of epic. It gave us the right amount of nostalgia, teasers and even humor! In fact, it was so good, I am in no way salty about Maguire and Garfield’s lack of appearances.
Be right back — Busy re-watching the trailer for the nth time.
