Need for Speed 2022 Is Reportedly Set for a 2022 & Next-gen Release 

Ever since the last Need for Speed title, Need for Speed: Heat, rolled out, EA has remained tightlipped about the next mainline entry in the franchise. But this excruciating silence may soon be coming to an end because, according to a very credible source, NFS is set to make a gleeful return this year. 

Jeff Grubb, via his Giant Bomb premium show Grubbsnax, stated that EA’s popular racing franchise, Need for Speed, would make its return in November, 2022. He claimed that the makers are favoring the holiday season to maximize the hype and profits that the upcoming title could gather. 

Given that the new NFS game is already in development, it’s not the biggest surprise to see it hit the shelves before 2023.  

Although, what’s shocking is that Jeff Grubb believes that the latest edition of this long-running series is likely to ditch PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in favor of availability on next-gen consoles.

In addition to this, Grubb also mentioned rather unassertively that the new Need for Speed might be set in Miami and offer a gaming experience that resembles NFS Underground in some ways.  

There [are] rumors about what the setting is that I’ve heard. It’s hard to pin down if these are for sure or not. I’ve heard stuff like Miami, which makes me think maybe they’ll go an Underground route. That could be leaps of logic I’m making.

As always, it’s best to take Grubb’s word with a grain of salt. While the popular gaming figure is reliable, he does not have a perfect track record and has often been wrong in the past.  

But if our source is correct this time around, then an official announcement shouldn’t be too far along.
