No matter how you see it, Soukyuu no Fafner is a series that will always leave you with heartbreak. Regardless, fans of the show are still crazy over it and willing to suffer the pain, which is quite understandable.
This overwhelming fan support reached the creators, who decided to give this series a spin-off even though it ended in 2021. As expected, fans are looking forward to hearing more about it, and today is their lucky day.
The latest trailer for the ‘Soukyuu no Fafner Behind the Line’ spin-off has revealed the anime’s advanced theater release on January 20, 2023.
Even though I said the episode wouldn’t end in heartbreak, it doesn’t mean it won’t happen in between. The trailer might not show a lot of fighting or brutal scenes but has a gloomy theme painted all over it.
It starts with the omen of death as Kazuki is being told that he doesn’t have much time left to live. He asks Soushi not to reveal this information to the others and to have a ‘peaceful summer.’
The trailer shows other Fafner pilots relaxing and having the time of their lives at the beach, at a festival, and doing other things. Little do they know that doom might knock on their door anytime soon.
Moreover, the cast and staff from the previous installments will be returning to make this episode just as incredible as the series. Production I.G. will be handling the animation, with Takashi Noto coming back as the director.
I’m really excited to see what this episode will be like since peace is not something that we often see in Soukyuu no Fafner.
With such little time left on Kazuki’s hands, I guess he’ll try to live out and be with his friends as much as possible.
About Soukyuu no Fafner
Fafner in the Azure is a Japanese mecha anime franchise created by Xebec in collaboration with Starchild Records.
The story focuses on Tatsumiyajima, the central island in a sleepy backwater of the Japanese isles. Not much happens there, and the island’s young people go to school knowing that their lives are likely to remain peaceful and undisturbed.
Or so they have been taught… but the truth is different. The fate of mankind is on the line, and Tatsumiyajima is the last line of defense against a hostile and incomprehensible enemy.
