There have been rumors of a new Sony console for a while now. This includes leaks about a Slim Variant for PlayStation 5 and another unnamed handheld console.
Sony announced their new handheld console, the PlayStation Portal Remote Player, which allows players to stream games from the PlayStation 5 console on the go. The pricing has been confirmed at USD 199.99.
The PlayStation Portal remote player brings the PS5 experience to the palm of the player. It is a DualSense controller with adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and an 8-inch LCD screen capable of 1080p at 60Hz.
Sony mentioned in their blog that the PlayStation Portal is the perfect device for gamers who have to share their living room TV and want to play PS5 games in another room.
The PlayStation Portal Remote player also contains a 3.5mm audio jack for wired audio.
However, other accessories like PS VR2 requiring headset and games streamed through PlayStation Premium’s cloud streaming are not currently supported.
Sony has also announced their Pulse Elite Wireless headset and Pulse Explore Wireless Earbuds that bring lossless and low latency audio.
The Pulse Elite has a retractable boom mic and AI-enhanced noise rejection. It ships with a charged hanger for convenient charging and storage options.
The Pulse Explore is the first wireless earbuds that provides a “premium portable audio experience” with dual microphones and AI-enhanced noise rejection capable of filtering background sounds. It ships with a charging case.
The two audio solutions will have custom-designed planar magnetic drivers. Sony also mentioned that with Pulse Explore, they will be the first company to provide wireless earbuds to the mass consumer market using planar magnetic driver technology.
With so many new accessories by Sony, the PlayStation 5 will have a unique experience that will be pretty different from when it initially launched.
