1. Episode 2 Preview & Speculation
After watching the first episode, it looks like the school had been drifted to another dimension. While the 36 students were desperately looking for ways to return to their original world, Nozomi found that their school was surrounded by water.
If what we saw in the last minutes of the episode is not another delusion, it means that there is an island nearby. It’s possible that the students will move to the island, figuring out a way to return.
Also, Nozomi said something about spotting a bright thing in the pitch-black sky earlier in the episode, while Nagara couldn’t. Does this mean she also has gained some power that is yet to be identified by her? Although there is no proof to support this theory yet.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how Nagara and his friends will safely return to their original world.

Episode 2 of the Sonny Boy (2021) anime has been released on Friday, Jul 23, 2021. The episode title or preview has not been shown.

3. Episode 1 Recap
Nagara is lying on the floor in the classroom when Nozomi comes there. Suddenly they hear a window glass smashing. Nozomi finds out that it’s some boys playing football with their superpowers. She complains about everything else disappearing except their school.
Later, Nozomi tells Nagara that she also wishes to get some superpowers. She then points to the pitch-black sky and wonders what is the shining thing up there, but Nagara doesn’t see anything.
Suddenly, all the students receive a notification. It’s an invite to a group meeting by the student council. In the group meeting, the student council says that it’s been seven days since the world went dark for them and the contact with the outside world broke.
The president talks about some students gaining superpowers and harming the school. They believe someone will eventually come to rescue them, but they need to split duties until then. Then they select a leader through ballet voting.
Meanwhile, Nagara and Nozomi weren’t aware of the new leader selection, and Nagara finally checks his phone. In the other room, Asakaze complains that he can’t use his powers. Machi laughs off, which annoys Asakaze, and he uses his power, breaking all the windows.
As a penalty, Cap uses his power to make Asakaze solve long math divisions. Later, the student council gives a phone to Nozomi, but she smashes the phone on the ground. As a penalty, Nozomi runs 100 laps around the school.
Later, Asakaza and some other students decide to take over the school. As a result, they get into an argument with the Cap, which intensifies, making the Cap again use his power against Asakaza.
He hits Asakaza with a bat. However, the other student council member interrupts and says that the Cap can’t misuse his powers and deserves a penalty. The student uses a strange power to take control of the situation, scaring everyone.
Nozomi takes Nagara to the terrace and jumps off the building later. Nagara saves her, but the rail breaks, and they fall into the darkness. They fall into the water and see that the school is surrounded by water.

4. About Sonny Boy
Sonny Boy is an original anime by Shingo Natsume, the director of One-Punch Man. Studio Madhouse is animating it and Hisashi Euguchi is the original illustrator.
Nagara is a middle-schooler but in the middle of his summer vacation, he is transported to an unknown school in the middle of nowhere. All his classmates are transported there as well.
